Ecolab reported third-quarter earnings of $2.18 a share, $0.01 below expectations. Revenue came in at $4.69B, against $4.75B expected.
Christophe Beck, the company's chairman, president and chief executive, said pricing strengthened to 5 per cent to offset higher commodity costs. Volume growth accelerated to 2 per cent despite ongoing Middle East disruptions. Ecolab now expects adjusted diluted earnings per share of $8.10 to $8.20 for 2026, up 8 to 9 per cent from last year. For the fourth quarter, it expects $2.13 to $2.23 a share, up 2 to 7 per cent from a year earlier.
The key question is whether pricing can keep outrunning input costs. Pricing at 5 per cent alongside volume growth of 2 per cent suggests demand is holding while costs are passed on to customers. The third-quarter miss is small, so the fourth-quarter range matters more, and it depends on pricing staying ahead of commodity costs. If that gap narrows, the full-year range of $8.10 to $8.20 becomes harder to hold.
