Saudi Arabia has issued a warning of potential danger in Riyadh. The alert follows the Houthi claim that the movement struck the Ras Tanura refinery on Monday, October 26. Aramco said its Yanbu and Shaybah sites showed no damage. Saudi Civil Defense issued an alert for potential danger in Jeddah, Taif and Yanbu on Saturday. Fars news agency reported multiple explosions in Najran, Saudi Arabia. Crude oil is the asset most directly exposed if damage at Ras Tanura is confirmed. Output has not been reported cut through any earlier alert in this cycle.
The Houthis, a Yemen-based armed movement, say they launched an attack on the Ras Tanura refinery on the Gulf coast of Saudi Arabia. A fire broke out at the Ras Tanura oil hub after the attack.
The US has ordered non-emergency staff out of Saudi Arabia. The Houthi movement says all mediation with Saudi Arabia has failed.
Israel Hayom reported on Monday that Saudi Arabia offered the Houthis $1 billion to halt attacks, and that Iran brokered the offer.
A claimed attack on Ras Tanura itself would be the first direct hit on a major Saudi export and loading hub. The campaign has already hit airports, Aramco's Dhahran headquarters and Yanbu, and those strikes have not been reported to have cut output or throughput. Damage to loading or refining capacity at Ras Tanura would be a different matter for crude oil flows.
