The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is demanding that Anthropic executives testify, Axios reports. The demand widens the FTC's AI safety probe, which began with requests for documents.
Anthropic has applied to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker $ANT. Reports put the company's valuation target at $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion.
It also carries risk language on catastrophic outcomes. A Pentagon supply-chain designation remains unresolved.
The testimony adds a second regulatory question three weeks before the targeted listing, on top of the Pentagon matter. Investors must weigh that against the losses and the valuation target. Testimony would also put the company's internal safety practices under public scrutiny. Some backers have already trimmed their expectations after the wider market selloff.
