Anthropic is to spend up to $120.58 billion on computing capacity from SpaceX AI and Nvidia. Computing capacity is the processing power needed to build and run AI models. Anthropic's voting arrangement for shareholders runs through an entity it calls Founder LLC. Its risk disclosures include language on catastrophic risk.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Anthropic is targeting an initial public offering for the week of Nov. 16. Anthropic has applied to list its shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker $ANT. The S-1 sets out a company's finances and risks for public investors.
Anthropic's listing application puts a compute commitment of up to $120.58 billion alongside an offering of up to $100 billion. A roadshow, the series of meetings with investors before pricing, is expected the week of Nov. 9. Anthropic first submitted a draft registration in confidence on June 1.
Amazon will provide up to $20 billion in financing under an April pact. Anthropic has disclosed an $80 billion loss for the first half and $450 billion in cloud obligations. Amazon is both a backer of the company and a provider of its computing capacity, not a passive investor.
The company's target is $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion. A listing week of Nov. 16 sets the timetable for the roadshow, and the open question is whether institutional buyers will accept that target. An FTC inquiry and questions over Pentagon supply chains also remain open in the same period.
