Capital One reported third-quarter earnings of $6.69 a share, $1.13 above Wall Street's estimate. Revenue was $16.34bn, short of the $16.43bn expected.
The result follows a run of smaller balance-sheet moves this year. Capital One sold its IRA deposit book to Axos Bank on September 21 and extended a $750m repurchase facility to Fortress Credit Realty on October 6, both signs the company has been managing its funding and liquidity position ahead of this report.
The beat also comes as investors have been watching how the integration of Discover is progressing since the deal closed, with cost and revenue synergies the main open question for the stock.
Capital One's per-share earnings had moved higher through the year, from $3.34 in the first quarter to $4.73 in the second, according to the company's own filings. A year earlier, in the third quarter of 2025, the company reported earnings of $5.95 a share.
