Flutter Entertainment will cut up to 1,400 jobs across its UK and Ireland business, with roles affected in Leeds, Dublin, Porto and Cluj-Napoca. The company said the move is a response to a higher UK gaming tax.
Flutter expects aggregate pre-tax charges of approximately $80 million to $90 million, mostly severance and related costs, booked in the fourth quarter of 2026. It expects the plan to be substantially complete by the end of the year.
Kevin Harrington, chief executive of Flutter UK & Ireland, said the tax increase "has fundamentally changed the economic model of the regulated betting and gaming industry in the UK."
The restructuring shows the UK tax rise is prompting a lasting change to costs rather than a one-off hit. It comes after Flutter disclosed a shutdown in Brazil in September, which was tied to a regulatory ban that could still be reversed within 120 days. The UK plan is different: it is a deliberate, multi-year restructuring, booked against a business whose own UK & Ireland chief says its economic model has been fundamentally altered. Taken together, the two moves show Flutter absorbing cost pressure in two separate markets at once, with job cuts spread across four cities suggesting the company is treating the UK tax hit as permanent rather than temporary.
