Oil and yields climbing together into the close carries into premarket, but the morning's news flow shows energy diplomacy working even as the Strait of Hormuz standoff grinds on. The French Presidency says Bahrain, the UAE and Saudi Arabia will each ship 100,000 to 95,000 tons of diesel monthly to France starting in coming weeks, a direct response to the shortage risk flagged overnight. International Energy Agency head Fatih Birol says the agency will consider releasing more oil from emergency stocks if needed, a signal that policymakers are now actively managing supply rather than just watching it tighten.
Crude is extending its advance in premarket trading, with the Crude Oil ETF up 2.4% and Halliburton up 2.3%, both tracking Monday's $103.78 WTI print higher. Steel Dynamics, which fell 4.4% after hours, is down a sharper 6.2% in premarket, compounding the insurance and industrial weakness seen Monday night.
The chip and data-center trade that drove Monday's rally is reversing hard this morning. SK hynix is down 4.8%, CoreWeave 4.2%, CAE 4.1% and Nebius Group 3.8%, a broad pullback after China's Foreign Ministry pushed back on US efforts to restrict DeepSeek tools, calling it an overgeneralization of national security concerns. 3M is building on its after-hours Amazon news, up 3.8% premarket following Monday's 5.4% after-hours jump on the expanded commercial relationship and warrant structure. Leonardo DRS is up 3.4%, and the Indonesia ETF is sharply higher at 7.8%.
On the diplomatic front, Iran's foreign ministry says US "excessive demands" are hindering negotiations, and separately objects to Egypt's readiness to help Saudi Arabia in the Houthi-Saudi conflict, calling it a worsening factor. Pakistan's Army Chief has arrived in Tehran with a delegation, another data point in the region's shifting alignments. DTEK reports three energy targets struck overnight in Ukraine's Odesa region.
In Europe, UK unemployment came in lower than expected at 4.7% with wage growth slightly soft, while Germany's Zew current conditions index beat expectations and Amazon announced a EUR 16 billion investment in Germany for 2027, part of Chancellor Merz's push to quadruple the country's AI compute capacity by 2030.
