Posts on employee forums, including Blind and thelayoff.com, describe Qualcomm preparing to cut jobs across its global workforce following annual performance reviews. The posts do not give a headcount figure or say which divisions or regions would be affected.
The reports come in a month when Qualcomm's news flow has otherwise run the other way. A court verdict on October 13 reinforced the company's position in its licensing dispute with Arm, and on October 5 Qualcomm reached an agreement with Huawei that opened a new revenue channel.
Cuts framed around performance reviews sit awkwardly against those two developments. They point to cost discipline inside the business rather than to the licensing and AI storylines that have driven the stock's narrative this month, and could reflect caution about margins or about how specific segments are performing. Until Qualcomm says how large the reduction is and where it falls, investors will not know whether this is routine annual housekeeping or a signal of weakness somewhere in the business.
