Talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz have stalled. Tehran says the US blockade of Iran must be lifted first. The conditional offer does not settle the core blockade or nuclear demands, which remain open. The same gap kept crude's risk premium high even as Trump's no-strike pledge held it down through the midterms.
Trump said on Sunday, October 25, that there would be no US attack on Iran that day while strike planning continues. Washington is sending a third aircraft carrier strike group and 10,000 more personnel toward the Persian Gulf, Fox reported. Tehran says the blockade has cut its imports by 25 per cent.
Inside Iran, rice prices are up more than 60 per cent and beef more than 150 per cent since the war began. Medicine is in short supply.
Israel votes on October 27. Netanyahu said intelligence indicates Iran and its proxies may try to disrupt the elections.
Any real narrowing of the gap over the blockade would matter more for Brent crude than for broader equities. For stocks, the main channel has been concern over oil-driven inflation, not direct exposure.
