RXO reported third-quarter earnings per share of $0.09, which was $0.02 above expectations. Revenue was $1.87 billion, against $1.83 billion expected.
Chief executive Drew Wilkerson said RXO beat its profit outlook on continued gains in Brokerage market share. He also pointed to a 900 basis-point rise in the truckload spot mix from the previous quarter, which is 9 percentage points, and to strength across Last Mile and Managed Transportation.
RXO agreed on October 5 to be acquired by C.H. Robinson. The deal is valued at $5.8 billion and is paid in a mix of stock and cash. It is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
Both companies have already priced the deal in, so RXO's quarter now reads less as a stand-alone result and more as evidence for the deal. On Wednesday, October 28, C.H. Robinson reported its own third-quarter beat, and Bozeman commented on using Lean and AI tools to avoid the integration problems that have hit past freight-brokerage combinations. Together those points framed the deal as a question of execution. RXO's improving results narrow the gap between the $5.8 billion price set at announcement and the business being bought. That supports the case that the cost savings and the lift to earnings per share the two companies have targeted remain within reach through the first-half 2027 close.
