Trump says Iran nuclear issue will be resolved very soon as Hormuz deadline passes
Tehran's own Tuesday deadline for a US reply on reopening the Strait of Hormuz has passed without an answer. Trump said the nuclear issue, not the war, will be resolved very soon.

President Trump said Tuesday that the nuclear issue with Iran will be resolved very soon, and that oil prices will fall. He said Iran is "failing very badly" and told Americans not to fear what technology will do to the country.
The remarks come as Tehran's own deadline for a US response on reopening the Strait of Hormuz passed without an answer. Iran says it is still waiting for Washington to reply to a seven-point plan sent through Qatar. Foreign Minister Araghchi had said Iran expected an answer by Tuesday on both the strait and nuclear talks.
Other signals from Tehran and Washington point away from an imminent end to the conflict. Vice President Vance said Iran's supreme leader is alive and that Iran must behave before any deal is possible. Iran's Army spokesperson has offered a 10 billion toman bounty for an American soldier, dead or alive. The head of the Revolutionary Guard's public arm has said the US must admit defeat and leave the region. Parliament speaker Qalibaf has said the region will not sell oil if Iran cannot sell its own. Iran's oil exports have plunged under a US naval blockade, while Saudi Arabia and Iraq have seen their own exports rebound.
Trump also said he is uncertain whether Iran will capitulate. He made the remarks hours after denying that any sanctions relief had been offered to Iran. Iran's delegation has separately denied any plans to negotiate.
Taken together, the remarks read as confrontational rather than diplomatic. They fit with his linking of a US win and lower gas prices to military resolution rather than a mediated deal. Markets have seen similar phrasing before with no follow-through, and traders may treat it as rhetoric that keeps a risk premium in crude rather than as a genuine bullish signal.
