The Closer

Map: The Gulf and Hormuz, marking Strait of Hormuz
The session's defining move stayed the SpaceX-driven telecom reshuffle paired with the Strait of Hormuz oil and diesel standoff, and nothing in the late window changed either story. Carriers facing new satellite competition and tower landlords benefiting from the consolidation logic held their positions into the close, while the Iran-linked tanker strikes, Trump's comments on timing, and the Russian diesel import arrangement remain the operative backdrop for energy markets heading into the next session.
The only fresh items in this window were corporate financing moves, unrelated to the day's main themes. Vaxcyte completed concurrent offerings, raising roughly $544.3 million in net proceeds from common stock and pre-funded warrants priced at $64.00 per share, alongside approximately $558.7 million in net proceeds from $575 million of 1.50% convertible senior notes due 2032, convertible at about $89.60 per share. Both deals closed October 9 after full exercise of underwriters' overallotment options.
Live Nation Entertainment priced a private offering of $730 million in senior notes due 2032 at 7.125% and €600 million in senior notes due 2032 at 6.125%, both at par, with proceeds earmarked to redeem its outstanding 6.500% senior secured notes due 2027. The company also entered cross-currency swaps converting the dollar tranche into roughly €652 million of euro obligations, producing a blended rate near 5.89%. The offering is set to close October 15.
Neither financing triggered a qualifying price move. With the telecom reshuffle and the oil and diesel situation still unresolved, those remain the threads to watch into tomorrow's session.
