S&P 500 ETF is up 0.2% as healthcare and real estate lead a mixed session.
XLV (Health Care Select) is the top sector at +1.1%, led by Humana (+14.1%) and Moderna (+6.6%), with UnitedHealth and Elevance Health also sharply higher. XLRE (Real Estate Select) gains 1.0%, driven by tower REITs Crown Castle (+10.5%), American Tower (+7.3%) and SBA Communications (+6.6%). XLY (Cons. Discret. Select) adds 0.7%, with Tesla up 3.0% after China reported 95,366 Tesla vehicles sold there in September, while Chipotle lags at -3.0%. XLB (Materials Select) rises 0.5% on Freeport-McMoRan (+3.4%) and Newmont (+2.7%), though FMC Corp drops 3.2%. XLF (Financials Select) is up 0.4% but Voya Financial and Prudential Financial lag. XLK (Technology Select) is flat as Oracle (+3.5%) offsets HP Inc (-5.1%) and Apple (-2.4%, after Nikkei reported Apple scaled back iPhone 18 Pro orders on weaker demand).
Momentum and high beta factors edge up while value is flat.
Biotech ETF and iShares U.S. Healthcare Providers ETF are both up more than 2%, while Metals & Mining ETF gains 1.7%. Airlines ETF and Semiconductor ETF lag.
Telecom names are under heavy pressure after SpaceX struck a deal to acquire a nationwide low-band spectrum portfolio, lifting EchoStar while weighing on major carriers.
