Brunswick beats third-quarter profit forecast, misses on revenue and raises its 2026 outlook
The boat maker now expects full-year net sales of $5.7 billion to $5.8 billion and adjusted earnings of about $4.65 a share.
Brunswick earned $1.58 a share in the third quarter, $0.18 more than analysts expected, but revenue of $1.45 billion fell short of the $1.50 billion forecast. The strength of the quarter sits in profit, not sales.
The company raised its outlook for the full year. It now expects net sales of $5.7 billion to $5.8 billion, an adjusted operating margin of about 8.0 per cent and adjusted diluted earnings of about $4.65 a share. That change reshapes the rest of the year more than the quarter does.
Brunswick also set cash targets for the year. It expects free cash flow of $400 million or more, debt retirement of $160 million or more and share repurchases of $80 million or more.
Chairman and CEO David Foulkes said the quarter showed Brunswick's performance "decoupling" from overall US boat market trends. He pointed to healthy boating participation and low pipeline inventory as the support. If he is right, the company's results now move on their own rather than with the industry, and that is the claim to test in coming quarters.
