Russia's Defense Ministry says it targets cargo vessel serving Ukrainian military in Black Sea
Moscow has not changed its demand for the rest of Donbas, and trilateral talks are planned for early November.
Russia's Defense Ministry says it is targeting a cargo vessel that serves the Ukrainian military in the Black Sea. The claim comes from Moscow alone. If it holds, it adds ships to a month of overland strikes on refineries, power grids and industrial sites inside Russia.
The claim arrives as diplomacy and attacks run side by side. Working-level trilateral talks are scheduled for Abu Dhabi or Switzerland in the coming weeks, and team-level talks are planned for early November. Moscow's demand for the rest of Donbas has not changed. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the conflict will continue and is likely to escalate.
The US and Russia are also working on an energy track. A fourth Russian diesel tanker under the Russia-US arrangement was due to leave on October 28, with three more on the way. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the suspension of sanctions on Russia is temporary. Washington is discussing Russian deals for US oil majors as part of the peace talks, and the two countries are weighing a joint oil venture off Sakhalin after the war, part of a US push to end the fighting with economic incentives.
Black Sea shipping has been part of the grain and energy-logistics backdrop to the war. A hit there raises the question of whether sea routes become a new point of friction, alongside the trade Kyiv has floated of refinery strikes for interceptors. Nothing in the claim suggests Moscow's territorial terms have moved.
