Smurfit Westrock reported third-quarter earnings of $0.45 per share, $0.16 below expectations. Revenue came in at $8.28 billion, against $8.51 billion expected.
The company now expects adjusted EBITDA, a measure of operating profit before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, of about $4.7 billion for the full year 2026. It blames unprecedented cost inflation, including about $700 million of additional freight and energy costs. Chief executive Tony Smurfit said the quarter was resilient despite that inflation and weaker than anticipated converting volumes. He said pricing initiatives are expected to offset input costs.
The company declared a quarterly dividend of $0.4523 per ordinary share. It is payable on December 10, 2026, to shareholders of record on November 13, 2026.
The guidance matters more than the earnings miss. The outlook depends on pricing offsetting input costs while converting volumes run weaker than anticipated. If freight and energy costs stay at the level the company cites, the next few quarters will show whether price can absorb them without adding to volume pressure.
