West Texas Intermediate crude is trading higher Friday. Convex Trade's market data feed showed the benchmark at $96 a barrel as of 11:30am Eastern, up 2.21% from Thursday's close.
The gain follows weeks in which crude had been giving back earlier strength, and today's advance pulls the market back toward levels it had recently surrendered. Without a clear catalyst identified for the session, the scale of the move itself is likely to draw attention from traders watching whether the advance holds or extends further.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration's Short-Term Energy Outlook, finalized October 1, pointed to attacks on Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline and tightness in diesel markets as sources of upward pressure on crude prices. The agency raised its forecast for Brent in the fourth quarter of 2026 to $105 a barrel.
