Novo Nordisk targets stable margin through 2030 as shares drop 7.4%
The target came at the company's Capital Markets Day in London, where shares extended a slide to a session low.

Novo Nordisk's chief financial officer told investors at the company's Capital Markets Day in London that the company aims to keep its operating margin broadly stable through 2030, compared with today's level. The event, held Monday, also covers corporate strategy, research and development, commercial strategy, and global manufacturing and supply, according to a Novo Nordisk press release distributed via GlobeNewswire.
The same release states that Novo Nordisk's 2030 ambitions, including the margin target, are "inherently uncertain" and "do not constitute Novo's financial outlook or guidance." The targets are based on adjusted metrics measured from a 2026 baseline.
Novo Nordisk's operating margin was 40.1% in the fourth quarter of 2025, down from 42.9% a year earlier, according to MarketScreener. For 2026, the company has forecast adjusted sales growth and adjusted operating profit both falling between 5% and 13% at constant currencies, citing pricing pressure in an increasingly competitive market, MarketScreener reported, citing comments from Chief Executive Mike Doustdar.
Novo Nordisk shares are down 7.4% Monday, extending a slide to a session low. The stable-margin pledge offers some reassurance to investors unsettled by that drop, but it also signals the company does not expect meaningful margin expansion even with pipeline additions such as the Frehemgo approval and the Orbis partnership. That is a modest comfort for the stock's valuation, not an explanation for the sell-off.
