Anthropic said it has agreed to buy up to $84.5 billion in computing capacity from SpaceX through 2029, adding SpaceX to its roster of infrastructure partners beyond the traditional cloud providers.
The deal follows Anthropic's compute commitment with Akamai and a target to reach 5 gigawatts of capacity by the end of the year. Nvidia has said its exposure to Anthropic's contracted value is $180 billion.
Pairing with SpaceX rather than a hyperscale cloud provider diversifies Anthropic's compute sourcing, but raises some questions on the supply side after reports this month that SpaceX has been reshuffling and slowing its own data center build-out.
Anthropic's push to lock in capacity comes as it prepares for a November initial public offering.
The $84.5 billion figure is large in headline terms, but it adds another data point to an already-known scaling story rather than marking a new shift. The disclosure reinforces the demand narrative supporting Nvidia and other infrastructure names, without changing the near-term picture for either company's stock.
