HP says industry-wide personal computer unit volumes could fall by a mid-single-digit percentage in calendar year 2027 compared with 2026. The company describes this as a preliminary planning assumption, not a forecast, and says it is consistent with current third-party industry forecasts.
HP says it remains in its planning period for fiscal 2027 and is not issuing financial guidance for that year in this filing. It adds that the assumption depends on how the PC market performs in the second half of calendar 2026 and remains subject to change.
The planning assumption lines up with the near-term pressures already reflected in HP's current guidance. But the absence of firmer guidance, and the company's own note that the figure hinges on how the rest of 2026 plays out, point to limited visibility on when the market might turn. That sits alongside HP's stated confidence in demand for AI-enabled PCs and in margin improvement for fiscal 2027, a contrast that leaves investors with less clarity than the company's tone elsewhere suggests.
