S&P 500 ETF is flat in pre-market trading, masking meaningful divergence underneath. Technology Select leads the main sectors at +0.4%, with semiconductors broadly higher: Corning and Intel are the standouts at +2.6% and +2.2% respectively, while Lam Research, Applied Materials, Broadcom, and KLA Corp all gain between +0.8% and +1.0%. Accenture is the notable laggard within the sector at -0.7%. Materials Select is next at +0.5%, led by Newmont at +1.4% and Freeport-McMoRan at +0.8%, while Nucor stands out to the downside at -1.9%. Consumer Discretionary Select is up +0.1%, with cruise names pacing the sector: Carnival Corp +0.9%, Norwegian Cruise Line +0.6%, and Royal Caribbean +0.5%. Financials Select is roughly flat, though Robinhood (+3.2%) and Coinbase (+2.8%) stand out well above the rest of the sector. Health Care Select and Utilities Select are both essentially flat. Energy Select is the clear underperformer at -0.7%, with nearly every constituent in the red and APA Corp the weakest at -1.6%.
Among factors, S&P 500 Momentum is the strongest at +0.9%, followed by growth-oriented S&P 500 Growth and Vanguard Growth ETF both at +0.4%. Dimensional Emerging Markets Value ETF gains +0.7%. Income and value factors are flat to slightly negative, with iShares MSCI EAFE Value ETF the weakest at -0.4%.
Within the mega-cap growth cohort, Alphabet is the standout, with both share classes up +2.1%. Semiconductor names within the group are broadly higher. On the downside, Adobe and Prologis each fall -1.1%, and Accenture drops -0.7%.
iShares Semiconductor ETF and VanEck Semiconductor ETF gain +0.9% and +0.8%, consistent with the broad strength across chip names. Defense ETF (SHLD) adds +0.9% and Defense ETF (ITA) +0.4%. Airlines ETF is up +0.6% and Uranium ETF +0.6%. Both biotech ETFs, IBB and XBI, gain +0.4%. Oil & Gas E&P ETF falls -0.6%, in line with the energy sector. iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF dips -0.2%.
Spot silver's move above 3% overnight is reflected in Silver ETF gaining +2.7% in pre-market. Among individual movers, networking and optical names are seeing notable gains, while Netflix is the sharpest single-stock decliner.
