Novo Nordisk has agreed to a partnership with Orbis Medicines worth up to $1.4 billion to discover and develop oral macrocycle therapeutics for cardiometabolic diseases, according to a release carried by BiopharmaWatch. Orbis describes itself as a leader in oral macrocycle drug discovery, the release said.
The agreement adds to a run of partnerships Novo Nordisk has signed as it pushes beyond its core GLP-1 obesity and diabetes franchise. The company has also struck a collaboration with Anthropic and is researching a low-dose version of Wegovy, moves that point to a broader strategy of building growth outside any single drug or disease area as the obesity and diabetes markets mature.
