Apple in talks with Nvidia over network technology use

Apple has held talks with Nvidia about using its network technology.
Nvidia has said its GPUs, built with what it calls "Confidential Computing", are being used for confidential inference in Apple's Private Cloud Compute system, and that its chips also handle server-side inference for Apple's Foundation Models, Stocktwits reported, citing a Nvidia blog post.
The two companies were once close hardware partners, with Nvidia GPUs central to Mac computers in the 2000s, before the relationship cooled into a long-running rivalry, Stocktwits reported. Nvidia shares opened down 3.7% on the day, breaking from recent gains tied to its Hugging Face and MediaTek deals.
Apple already designs its own AI chips, and Nvidia has faced recent concerns over the pace of AI spending, so the talks look like a routine infrastructure matter rather than a shift in strategy for either company. For investors, the discussion carries little near-term weight on its own.
