Huntington Bancshares raised its 2026 fee income growth outlook to about 32% year over year, up from the 26.5-29.5% range it set in January, according to slides presented at the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference on September 16, 2026. The company kept its other 2026 targets unchanged, pointing to loan growth of about 36% and deposit growth of about 33% for the year.
Huntington said net interest margin expansion is moderating. It cited elevated short-term rates and heightened competition on both deposit and loan pricing as the reasons. As a result, the bank is adopting a more conservative earnings-per-share outlook for 2027.
The company said cost and revenue synergies from its Cadence and Veritex acquisitions are tracking at or above the targets it originally set for them.
The stronger fee income guidance comes alongside a more cautious view of 2027 profitability, as margin compression from rates and competition weighs on the outlook, a pattern showing up across the banking sector this year. The upgrade itself is modest next to recent moves from other banks, and it depends on the Cadence and Veritex synergies continuing to materialize as planned.
