China industrial production rises 5.5% in September, matching forecasts
The reading came alongside stronger than expected GDP and retail sales figures for the same month

China's industrial production rose 5.5% year on year in September, matching the 5.5% expected in the official release.
The figure came out alongside other September data. Q3 GDP grew 4.5%, beating a consensus of 4.4%. Retail sales rose 1.1% year on year, well above the 0.5% expected. Both of those readings came in above forecasts.
The steadier production figure follows an earlier split in the inflation data on Oct 13, when soft consumer prices alongside producer prices were flagged as limiting room for further easing.
With growth, retail sales and production all tracking or beating expectations in the same release, the data points to a steadier activity backdrop rather than adding a new signal of its own. For anyone pricing China exposure, the alignment across output, spending and growth reduces the odds that policymakers see an urgent case for fresh stimulus in the near term.
