Gen Digital has made a takeover approach for GoDaddy, the Financial Times reports, citing discussions still in an early stage.
Gen Digital shares are down about 3.88% in today's session, according to Yahoo Finance. The company's market capitalization was about $16 billion as of Tuesday's close, with an enterprise value of $24 billion, according to Multiples.vc. Gen Digital was formed in 2022 through the merger of NortonLifeLock and Avast, and now sells security and identity products under the Norton, Avast, LifeLock, MoneyLion, Avira, AVG, ReputationDefender and CCleaner brands. The company reported fiscal 2026 revenue above $5 billion for the first time, in results announced on May 7.
Neither company has confirmed the report, and no price, premium or financing terms have been disclosed. Deals at this stage typically carry a low probability of completion and little near-term effect on price, especially without disclosed valuation or financing details. The approach gives GoDaddy shareholders a potential exit path, but without concrete terms, the stock's direction will likely depend more on broader market sentiment and GoDaddy's own performance than on the takeover talk itself.
