Asian markets rose 0.5% on Monday as technology shares tracked a rally on Wall Street. South Korea's Kospi jumped more than 2%, led by Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
Meta's advance came as investors treated an $18 billion settlement over teen-safety claims as a manageable outcome rather than a worst case. The company's Muse AI platform has also lifted sentiment toward Taiwanese technology stocks and reinforced a compute-heavy demand story that is feeding into the broader chip rally. Broadcom added to that momentum after raising its guidance for AI revenue on accelerating demand for custom accelerator chips.
The company also has shareholder return plans of roughly 90 trillion to 110 trillion won for next year.
The moves mark a shift from recent weakness, when AI safety concerns and regulatory warnings pulled the Kospi down more than 3% and triggered a selloff in memory-chip stocks. Monday's rally, in Meta and across semiconductors, points to renewed conviction in the AI spending cycle and demand for custom chips, a turn from the caution and rotation away from technology that had marked the market before it.
