TransDigm Group said its operating unit, Extant Aerospace, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a portfolio of commercial rotorcraft, land systems and business jet products for approximately $240 million in cash.
TransDigm said it does not typically disclose asset acquisitions made by its operating units, but is doing so because of the size of this transaction. The deal is expected to close during TransDigm's fiscal year 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
The purchase is being funded with fresh debt rather than proceeds set aside for paying down existing borrowings. TransDigm recently refinanced $3 billion in notes due 2035, and its willingness to add new debt for this deal points to comfort with continued leverage to fund growth. The size of the acquisition is enough to prompt disclosure, but the approach fits the capital allocation strategy TransDigm has followed for years rather than any change in direction.
