Siemens Healthineers drops the Siemens name and starts carving out its diagnostics business

The in vitro diagnostics unit will stand alone as Olyrian Diagnostics, and Reuters reports the carve-out is expected to be completed by mid-2028.

Siemens Healthineers is to drop the Siemens name and become Healthineers, and it has started carving out its in vitro diagnostics business as a standalone organisation called Olyrian Diagnostics. Handelsblatt reports that the separation will affect employees.

Reuters reports that the carve-out is expected to be finished by mid-2028 and describes it as coming ahead of a future divestment. Olyrian stays inside the group during the transition. Together the two moves look like a wider reshaping of the group, and if Reuters is right, the diagnostics unit is on its way out.

Reuters puts diagnostics at about 17% of total revenue and about 20% of the Healthineers workforce.

The new name takes effect once the spin-off from Siemens AG is entered in the German Commercial Register, followed by a 3-year transition. The two companies say the name needs approval at the Siemens Healthineers annual shareholders' meeting in February 2027. Democrata reports that the spin-off, planned for 2027, needs a vote at both companies' annual meetings that month.
