Johnson & Johnson reported third-quarter earnings per share of $2.59, in line with expectations. Revenue came in at $25.40bn, below the $25.58bn analysts had forecast.
Despite the shortfall, the company raised its full-year 2026 guidance. It now expects reported sales to reach a midpoint of $101.2bn, implying growth of 7.4%, up from a prior midpoint of $101.1bn. Adjusted earnings per share guidance rose by $0.06 to a midpoint of $11.10, from $11.04 previously.
Chairman and chief executive Joaquin Duato said the quarter's performance and investment in high-growth areas gave the company clearer visibility toward double-digit growth by the end of the decade.
The decision to raise both sales and profit guidance in the same quarter revenue missed suggests management views the shortfall as immaterial to its longer-term trajectory. Duato's comments extend that confidence beyond the current quarter, setting a higher bar for reassurance in the quarters ahead if growth does not arrive on the timeline he described.
