SEB Chief Executive Johan Torgeby resigns for personal reasons

SEB Chief Executive Officer Johan Torgeby is resigning for personal reasons, the bank said.
Torgeby has led the Nordic region's largest banking group since 2017, when he took over abruptly after Annika Falkengren's own sudden exit, according to a SEB press release carried by Nasdaq. His departure again puts the bank through a leadership change without a long runway to groom and vet a successor.
A chief executive change for personal reasons offers no read on strategy or balance sheet quality. But it reopens succession uncertainty at SEB just as the board must reassure investors that continuity in lending, capital markets and risk management holds through the handover.
