President Trump said Becton Dickinson plans to invest $3 billion to bring manufacturing of essential medical products onshore.
The announcement follows a pattern of similar claims from Trump in recent weeks, including a domestic steel plant from Mesabi Metallics in Iowa and an Ohio pharmaceutical campus tied to tariff policy. As with those cases, Trump is publicizing a large onshoring commitment from a named manufacturer.
Unlike those cases, the $3 billion figure attaches to a healthcare equipment maker rather than a commodity producer. That makes it harder to trace any direct effect on a specific traded price, the way tariff or supply announcements have moved crude or diesel in recent weeks.
The claim adds to a running tally of investment pledges Trump has credited to tariff-driven manufacturing growth, spanning steel, pharmaceuticals and now medical devices, without adding any new policy detail.
