GE HealthCare has agreed to acquire SOFIE Biosciences, a U.S. contract manufacturer of PET radiopharmaceuticals, from Trilantic North America for $945 million in cash, according to a GE HealthCare news release.
SOFIE operates 15 contract manufacturing sites across the U.S. with 21 cyclotrons, along with a site focused on theranostics, the release said. The deal also gives GE HealthCare U.S. rights to FAPI-74, a PET radiotracer aimed at pan-cancer imaging that is in Phase III development.
The Wall Street Journal had reported the roughly $945 million price tag before GE HealthCare's announcement, according to Newsquawk.
GE HealthCare said the deal is expected to add to both revenue and adjusted earnings per share in its first year. That marks a shift from how it framed its last major acquisition. When it agreed to buy Intelerad for $2.3 billion in November 2025, a deal it closed in the first quarter of this year, the company said that purchase would immediately boost top-line growth and adjusted EBIT margin but would be slightly dilutive to adjusted earnings per share in the short term because of financing costs.
