The UK Maritime Trade Operations said it received a report of an incident 60 nautical miles south of Al Mukha, Yemen, in which a tanker sighted multiple explosions in close proximity to the vessel.
The area lies in the Bab el-Mandeb approaches, waters the Houthis have controlled since seizing Mokha and the strait itself on September 10 and 11. The report adds to a series of unconfirmed tanker incidents along Yemen's coast and the strait in recent weeks.
Despite that pattern, actual transit volumes through the strait and Saudi export flows have so far held up through similar episodes. That resilience is why this latest report reads as another entry in an ongoing pattern rather than a fresh disruption to shipping.
The broader risk premium attached to Red Sea and Gulf shipping security remains priced in, even without a new shock to point to.
