The S&P 500 ETF rises 0.9% in a broad risk-on session. Technology leads sectors at +1.5%, with Nvidia up 2.7% after hitting its first record high since May and Morgan Stanley naming it a top pick, while Seagate (-12.0%) and Western Digital (-9.1%) are the sector's worst performers. Consumer Discretionary gains 1.2%, led by Tesla (+4.4%) after Q3 deliveries of 486,532 beat consensus of 463,761, while Nike falls 5.7%, the sector's worst showing. Materials adds 1.1% and Real Estate 0.9%. Energy is the lone sector in the red at -0.2% as crude and diesel supply talk dominates, with Financials flat at +0.1% and Health Care off 0.2%. Within Utilities (+0.6%), Constellation Energy stands out, down 3.1%.
Growth factors outperform value: S&P 500 Growth and Mega Cap Growth both gain 1.3%, versus S&P 500 Value at +0.5%.
Within mega-cap growth, Texas Instruments (+4.5%), Tesla (+4.4%) and AMD (+3.7%) lead, while Accenture (-3.2%) and Boston Scientific (-2.3%) lag.
Semiconductor ETFs are broadly strong, with the Semiconductor ETF up 3.3% and VanEck Semiconductor ETF up 2.8%, tracking the Nvidia-led move.
Oil-linked ETFs slide as the G7 moves to release diesel and crude stocks, with the Crude Oil ETF down 3.9% and Brent Oil ETF down 2.9%, while regional moves show Taiwan up 3.1% and Hong Kong down 2.5%.
Among single-stock movers, gains are led by smaller names with no attached news, while losses cluster broadly across names without a specific catalyst.
