SPY is little changed, off 0.1%, as sector performance splits sharply around the oil spike. Energy (XLE) leads at +1.0%, with Valero up 4.2%, after crude and Brent extended gains on Houthi missile attacks on Saudi Arabia and stalled US-Iran talks. Health Care (XLV) follows at +0.6%. On the downside, Materials (XLB) is the weakest sector at -1.2%, with Albemarle down 4.1%, while Technology and Industrials each slip 0.6%. Within Technology, Gen Digital (-8.9%) and First Solar (-7.9%) are the laggards. Consumer Discretionary is roughly flat overall but MGM Resorts plunges 11.3% against a 4.6% gain in Royal Caribbean. Xylem (-5.3%) drags on Industrials.
Factor ETFs show no clear tilt, with most readings clustered near flat to slightly negative.
Among mega-cap growth names, Meta Platforms stands out at +3.4% while Oracle (-4.2%) and UPS (-3.6%) are the weakest.
Elsewhere, Oil & Gas E&P (+1.4%) and Communication Services (+1.0%) outperform, while Metals & Mining (-1.6%) and Uranium (-2.3%) lag. Clean energy names are weak, with Solar Energy down 3.5% and Clean Energy down 2.4%. Commodities reflect the oil and gas surge, with Natural Gas up 6.7%, Crude Oil up 3.1% and Brent Oil up 2.5%, while Gold Miners and Silver Miners each fall about 2%.
