Home BancShares collects $80.7m from collateral sale on troubled Texas loans

The payment cuts the bank's ratio of non-performing loans to total loans by about 48 basis points, but $11.4m stays on nonaccrual until a second phase.

Home BancShares has sold part of the collateral behind a $92.1m non-performing loan relationship in its Texas market and received about $80.7m for it. The bank had disclosed the relationship earlier.

The sale fetched about 95% of the appraised value of the collateral sold. That gives a first reference point for how the rest of the collateral may be valued.

On September 30 balances, the payment cuts the ratio of non-performing loans to total loans by about 48 basis points. The ratio of non-performing assets to total assets falls by about 34 basis points. Both figures reflect this payment only, not later changes in the loan book.

The loans' remaining carrying amount is about $11.4m. It stays classified as nonaccrual, meaning the bank books no interest on it, so it remains in the non-performing count for now. A second phase is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. Whether it clears at a similar share of appraised value will decide how much of the remaining exposure comes off the books.
