Tapestry raises its full-year profit outlook after first-quarter earnings beat

Management now expects fiscal 2027 earnings of $8.25 to $8.35 a share, up from $7.80 to $7.90, and lifts its share buyback target to $1.7bn.

Tapestry reported first-quarter earnings of $1.82 a share, $0.24 better than expected, on revenue of $1.89bn against $1.88bn expected. The profit beat was the larger one. The sales beat was narrow.

The outlook says more than the quarter. Tapestry now expects fiscal 2027 revenue of about $8.5bn to $8.6bn, up from $8.4bn to $8.5bn. Its earnings outlook rises by about $0.45 at the midpoint. That suggests management expects the first-quarter strength to last through the year. Guidance is management's own forecast, and the earnings raise is the bolder part of it.

Chief Executive Joanne Crevoiserat said revenue, margin and earnings growth all came in ahead of expectations, which is why the company lifted its full-year view.

Cash returns rise too. Tapestry now plans to return about $2.0bn to shareholders in fiscal 2027, including $1.7bn of share buybacks, an increase of $350m from prior guidance. The board declared a quarterly dividend of $0.4625 a share, payable December 21, 2026. The company still expects an annual dividend of $1.85 a share.

For the second fiscal quarter, Tapestry expects revenue growth of about 5% to 6% at constant currency, which strips out exchange-rate swings, and earnings of about $3.05 a share.
