Motorola Solutions says record third-quarter orders and an all-time record backlog have led it to raise its 2026 revenue and earnings forecast for the second time. Chairman and CEO Greg Brown said strong demand drove both.

The raise matters more than the beat. Third-quarter earnings were $4.69 a share, $0.23 better than expected, on revenue of $3.38bn against $3.30bn expected. But the full-year outlook is management's own forecast, and it has now moved up twice.

Full-year revenue is now seen at about $13.050bn, up from $12.975bn. Non-GAAP earnings per share are expected between $17.94 and $17.99, up from a range of $17.62 to $17.72. Operating cash flow is expected at $3.050bn.

The company also adds $2bn to its share repurchase authorization. With the higher cash flow expectation, that puts a capital return on top of the demand story.

The first raise came in May, when the company cited a record first-quarter backlog of $15.7bn, up 11% from a year earlier. Backlog is orders booked but not yet delivered, so the question is how fast it becomes revenue. The new full-year figures rest on the fourth quarter, for which the company expects revenue growth of about 13% from a year earlier and non-GAAP earnings per share between $5.47 and $5.52.
