NCR Atleos misses on sales while profit beats, with Brink's merger on track

Chief executive Tim Oliver blames the war in the Middle East and customers waiting on the merger, and the company is giving no outlook.

NCR Atleos earned $1.35 a share in the third quarter, $0.14 more than expected. Revenue of $1.10bn fell short of the $1.16bn analysts expected.

Chief executive Tim Oliver said revenue was pressured by the war in the Middle East and by customers delaying purchases ahead of the pending merger with Brink's. Productivity gains, he said, still lifted profit margins. Atleos's earnings release put revenue down 2% from a year earlier, with 71% coming from recurring revenue streams. Net income attributable to Atleos was $97m, up 273%, and adjusted EBITDA was $241m, up about 10%.

The beat therefore came from margins, not from sales. Brink's own third-quarter results showed the same pattern, with margin gains running ahead of top line growth. That suggests both companies are offsetting the pressure on sales through operations rather than resolving it. Whether customers keep holding back into the fourth quarter is the open question, along with how well the two businesses are integrated.

Management will not help answer it. Atleos is not hosting an earnings call or issuing a financial outlook because of the pending transaction, so there is no new guidance for the full year or the fourth quarter. What it does say is that the merger remains on track to close in early January 2027, with regulatory approvals and integration planning proceeding as planned. Brink's has said the same.
