Par Pacific's third-quarter beat leans on $187.2m of EPA refinery exemptions
Refining throughput fell to 174 thousand barrels a day from 198 thousand a year earlier, and the company expects to close the sale of its Laramie Energy stake by year end.

Par Pacific reported third-quarter earnings of $10.70 a share, $4.27 better than expected, on revenue of $3.05bn against $2.23bn expected.
Much of that came from a regulatory benefit rather than from refining. EPA small refinery exemptions added $187.2m to adjusted net income, while throughput fell to 174 thousand barrels a day from 198 thousand a year earlier. Those exemptions depend on EPA decisions the company cannot control. That makes the result look like a weaker read on refining profit than the headline figures suggest.
Chief executive Will Monteleone pointed to strong operating performance across all businesses and to the Renewables segment's first profitable quarter. He also cited the agreement to sell Laramie Energy on attractive terms.
Par Pacific expects to close the sale of its 46% equity interest in Laramie by the end of 2026, bringing in about $120m in near-term cash. It also expects to monetize its excess RIN position tied to the exemptions by year end, which would turn part of their value into cash. The Laramie exit narrows the company's focus to refining and retail. It bought back $10.0m of its common stock in the quarter.
