International Flavors & Fragrances lifts low end of 2026 guidance but warns Q4 profit will soften

Third-quarter earnings of $0.83 a share beat forecasts by $0.03, but the chief executive expects weaker fourth-quarter profitability, especially in Health & Biosciences.

International Flavors & Fragrances reported third-quarter earnings of $0.83 a share, $0.03 better than expected, on revenue of $1.94B against $1.93B expected.

The company raised only the bottom of its full-year 2026 ranges. Sales guidance is now $7.5bn-$7.6bn, from $7.4bn-$7.6bn. Adjusted operating EBITDA guidance is $1.55bn-$1.60bn, from $1.53bn-$1.60bn. The top ends did not move, so the ranges have narrowed rather than shifted up. That looks like management gaining confidence in the floor, not seeing more upside.

The chief executive, Erik Fyrwald, was cautious about what comes next. He said he expects fourth-quarter profitability to be softer, particularly in Health & Biosciences, reflecting higher costs and reinvestments to strengthen the business. That sets the margin path for the final months of the year, and it sits against a range that is now tighter.

IFF also completed its $500m accelerated share repurchase programme, so how it deploys capital next is open. The planned sale of the Food Ingredients business remains on track to close by the end of the second quarter of 2027.
