Al Jazeera says two projectiles struck an oil tanker's engine room off Oman
Al Mayadeen, the Beirut channel aligned with Hezbollah and Iran, put the incident 14 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman, with no injuries or environmental damage reported so far.
Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera said the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) received a report that an oil tanker was hit by two projectiles, which struck its engine room.
The report comes after the US struck Iran overnight. Trump told Fox News the attack was limited and that the US destroyed an air defense facility once it was completed. That changes the setting. A report of an engine-room strike now carries more weight, because it arrives inside an active US-Iran military exchange rather than a dispute over unverified claims.
The pattern is not new. UKMTO counted seven strikes on vessels near the strait between September 28 and October 4. On October 23 it reported a tanker hit by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz near Oman.
